About the project
MY ROLE
As the sole designer on the engineering team, I built Uniskai from the ground up. Leading both the discovery and design phases, I conducted UX research and workshops to pinpoint user pain points and set success metrics. I employed a lean design approach, validating hypotheses through user research to ensure the product addresses user needs, lowers barriers to entry, and informs data-driven design decisions. Consistent collaboration with users, the product owner, and the development team ensured effective design, prioritization, and feature delivery.
ITERATION AND USER EMPATHY
Our principle was to involve users early and often, iterating continuously to build empathy as a team. Through agile processes, we responded swiftly to new information, refining our approach with each iteration. User feedback was crucial in ensuring the product remained user-centric and accessible for different roles.
STRATEGIC PIVOT
Initially an all-in-one DevOps and FinOps tool, Uniskai pivoted to focus on simplifying complex cloud bills—identified as the biggest pain point for users. Cloud providers often lure customers with credits but mislead them with convoluted billing. This strategic shift allowed us to address the most critical issue our users faced. Uniskai now emphasizes clear and actionable billing insights. The "Reports" feature offers real-time widgets to track billing progress, using advanced ML forecasting to help users estimate budgets and upcoming expenses, including credits and savings. This focus has helped organizations reduce cloud computing and Kubernetes costs by up to 75%.
